Pretty cool
In the past I have kind of scoffed at the idea of getting an IPOD. I was pretty sure I'd never use the silly thing so I didn't see the point in spending the money.
Well, my friends, I was wrong. John got a bonus check at work and surprised me with a
1 gig IPOD nano. This thing is actually really cool! It's not just for music! You can put pictures on it and make slide shows so I now have pics of the kids to show off, and you can download these podcast things that come in a REALLY wide variety. I subscribed to one with
Old Time Radio Horror shows on it. Wicked, man, I'm tellin ya. He also got me a little speaker you can plug into the thing and a protective plastic case for it. I had to get different headphones though cause I hate them stupid ear buds. I guess my ears are malformed or something but I just can't keep those things in.
Another pretty cool thing is that I'm getting a pretty descent sign language vocabulary. It will take years before I can actually use correct ASL grammar, but I'm learning. And I will tell you this...learning to speak it is a HECK of a lot easier than learning to read it. It's just like any other language. There are accents and dialects and everybody talks way too fast for me to follow. LOLOL I like it though.
I've started going over the specs for the IT upgrade in the office. It looks interesting, actually. The are basically going to have a server farm in the main office that all the satellite sites will work in remotely. They are going to use
thin clients for any of our machines that aren't XP. I'm not clear on the technology yet, so I'm not sure if it's a go between or a replacement. I'll have to wait til I can actually sit down with the guy to get all the details.
And on a completely fangirl note...DID YOU SEE THE CSI: VEGAS FINALE!!!!!! Ok, the show itself was less than impressive, at least compared to last season...or the House M.D. finale...BUT GRISSOM AND SARA ARE TOGETHER!!!!! **sigh** Everything is right with the world. WE'RE CANON, BABY!!! There were about 500 of us crazies on the message board that night squeeing our brains out at the last 53 seconds of that show. The S.S. GeekLove has sailed. :D

I knew you'd be thrilled with the end of CSI: I just wondered if you woke the kids up when you screamed at the TV.
Enjoy the IPOD. I still haven't taken the plunge.
