Sometimes Disney does something right

I really like this little blue alien dude. I have this kind of love/hate relationship with Disney. They make good movies for the most part and the "moral of the story" is usually good and easy enough for the kids to pick out. But as a corporation they're pretty...well...corporate. But Lilo and Stitch is a REALLY big part of our family right now and I find myself enjoying it.
Stitch is a genetically engineered "monster" who was designed to be "bad". The Intergalactic Government was going to lock him up and he escaped. He came to live with Lilo and her sister Nani because he was hiding out but while he was living there, he learned about family, and belonging and he learned how to be "good". Ian really took that lesson to heart. It helped him to see that there is good in everyone and that everyone can learn to find it and use it. In Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch, the message is that Love is stronger than Death. I'm sure right now there's a part of him that takes that literally but the message is a good one.
But, there is a separate, more superficial, more selfish reason why I like the little blue guy. Because Lilo and Stitch takes place in Hawaii and Lilo is the biggest Elvis fan in the entire island chain! There are about 4 Elvis songs in the movie, all of which I have on my Elvis: 30 #1s album and we listen to it on the way to school in the morning. Before the guitar solo in Devil in Disguise we all yell "It's all YOU!" just like Lilo does to Stich in the movie before he plays guitar on the beach. Last night at dinner we were talking and I told them about the Aloha from Hawaii concert. They actually kind of got excited and said they'd never really seen Elvis before. Which they hadn't. So I, getting giddy with gladness, say "Do you want to see some Elvis?" And to my great joy, they said "Yeah!". And I promptly ran out into the living room and pulled out my Greatest Performances video and put it right in. The thought it was great! We laughed and danced and had a great time. I was just thrilled to be bringing the third generation of Elvis fans into the family. :D Not to mention having some cool bonding material with the kids.
There are a lot of things I love that I really can't share with them for a while. Bruce Lee, which I am watching right now, being one of them. Luckily, The King is appropriate for all ages.

Stich is too cool. I have "Vampire Stich" on my desk at work. The boss mentioned something about it reflecting my personality, but I think he was kidding ;) I wanted an Elvis Stich, but the store was out. It's good fun, without a hit you on the head message. You all have such good taste.
And this is why you are their godmother. :D
Nice site!
