Telemarketers S***

Ugh. Here I was getting all ready to take a break after filing my brains out and getting my boss sort of organized for the day and blog. Then who should call but one of ...them...

Pleased as punch telemarketer: "We'd like you to sample this product for free, no obligation"

Polite but annoyed me: "We'll pass, but thank you"

Huffy telemarketer: "But it's free, why wouldn't you want to..."

Polite, annoyed but firm me: "We're just really not interested but thank you"

Persistent talking all over me telemarketer: "Really, there's no obligation, we don't need a credit card number or anything..."

Firm and talking over her a bit louder: "No, really, we're not interested, ok? Thank you very much"

Resigned and defeated telemarketer: "Ok, but if you have any questions you can visit the web site at www.annoyyouasmuchaswepossiblycan.com"

Gods, only if my family were on the ragged brink of starvation would I do that job. And then I wouldn't be any good at it and probably get fired in two days. I just can't imagine being that annoying when someone obviously just wants you to shut the heck up.

So anyway. Thanksgiving has come and gone. It was nice and quiet here. Aidan is thankful for blankie, mommy and daddy. In that order. At least I beat John out ROFL! Ian is thankful for Willie and his pets and his family and Animal Planet. This is a step up from what he brought home from school for his "What I'm thankful for" project. Much to my chagrin and extreme embarassment, Ian was thankful for his TV. *sigh* Somehow I feel like that is a personal failure. I let him watch Animal Planet because it feeds his interest in science and animals, it is very eco-friendly (obviously LOL) so he learns about conservation and good stewardship of the environment, he just really enjoys it and it's good currency for behavior modification when all else fails. So after the TV incident we sat down and had a bit of a talk about priorities.

His birthday also came and went rather well. He got a big pack of stencils, a stuffed Lilo and stitch set and a Stitch Tshirt, and new hermit crabs. We're going to try this hermit crab thing again on a bit of a smaller scale. Two little crabs this time. Speedy and Sleepy. The biggest problem with hermit crabs in the great white north is keeping them warm. LOL So their little crabitat is right on the floor by the baseboard heater. We had them out last night so they could excersize while Ian cleaned out the water and food dish. He's getting pretty good about taking responsibility for his pets, actually. I'm really proud of him. :D

When I was helping him with his homework last night I was so pleased, I can tell he is getting so much better about reading and comprehension. It's rather exciting, truth be told. And his math skills are still amazing. Well to me anyway, but it took me 3 tries to get a B in algebra. LOL

John and I were talking last night about Aidan. She is probably just as intelligent as Ian if not more so. She's already way past letter recognition and into word recognition at this point and she hasn't even started Kindergarten yet. But I worry that she has no interest in anything but dolls and princesses. John says this is a phase that all girls go through and it will pass. He says all little girls want to be pricesses and all little boys want to be mad scientists. *sigh* I never went through the princess thing. I always wanted to be the mad scientist. So I'm sitting on my hands and biting my tongue and envisioning with great longing the Cornell application packet.

Ian wants to have a couple of his friends over this Saturday for a Belated Birthday PlayDate. W and D are two kids he likes in his Before/After School program. So, I made invitations and gave them to the teachers to give to their parents. I told Ian not to get his hopes up because their parents may have other things planned for Saturday and his friends may not be able to come. I'm just thrilled that he wants to do it! Look how far we've come from barely acknowledging his peers' existence! I hope at least one of them can come.

Since I've been feeling a bit better and have a bit more energy lately, I've started slowly working on getting the family website back up and running. It's a wreck since I really had no interest in updating it for an age. But I think it will be fun. Since the kids' daycare/school is out the week between Christmas and New Year, I will probably get it back "online" and relaunched then. (My extra wonderful boss is quite happy to let me have that week off. I love her.) I spent some time last night on the church website and working on Squirell's Family Website. They are actually going to pay me which is BONUS! :D

My job is still going well. I really love it here. They totally appreciate and value me here. That is such a cool feeling.

Ok, so there it is. One day at a time, peeps. Peace out.

They keep trying to get me to give money to charities I've never heard of... On the other had, I did win $618,500 in the Spanish lottery. All I need to do is fax them all my bank account numbers, and they're only going to take 10% as a finders fee. As if... I'm glad to see you're feeling better. I can tell, because you're blogging again! Yeah Kimber!
