The joys of health insurance
Tomorrow, I will be taking the whole day off to make the rounds of all the health care professionals I could book in one day. In the morning I will see the dentist to see if he can do anything about my chipped front tooth, then to my FP to get my physical, then to an Endochrinologist to have tests done. The last time I had blood work done she thought I might be becoming insulin resistant. meh, we'll see. But at least now we have decent health insurance to cover it. I still miss that Teamster's insurance but the stuff I have through my new job is about 1000% better than the stuff John is getting through his job. Mine is Blue Cross/Blue Sheild. Not the best, but definitely more widely accepted.
I may have to have words with Ian's school again. *le sigh* When I talked to him this weekend he said he has only seen his speech therapist once this year. According to his IEP he's supposed to see her one hour a week. This is bad. I sent the Special Ed coordinator an email yesterday asking about it and telling her if the current ST isn't able to meet Ian's needs they will need to make other arrangements to be in compliance with his IEP. Hopefully she won't make a fuss.
He was evaluated for a Title I reading program and they said he qualified to be in it. I haven't heard anything from the teacher about how she is handling it. When I talked to her before the evaluation she said it would involve pull out work either individually or in small groups. Hopefully she's not doing too much of this. He's already getting pulled out for ST and OT. blech
Ian wants to be Stitch for Halloween this year. I am SO not going to sew a Stitch costume. If they don't have one off the rack, he's just gonna be out of luck. I'm not sure what Aidan wants to be, she hasn't said yet. I doubt we will be going trick or treating this year. We don't know anyone in the neighborhood. We may take the kids down to the mall or to the church party. We'll see what happens.
So tell me something. If you are in charge of maintaining something, and someone imposes a deadline (4 days) on you to make drastic changes without even giving you notice, would that seem rude to you? Well it did to me. The website I designed and maintain for the church needs a drastic overhaul because no one on any of the committees has been giving me content to update it with for months. Suddenly, on Saturday (the 15th), I get an email from the new minister saying that they have paid for radio ads on Air America to start running on Wednesday (the 19th). Oh and by the way, here are about 5 pages of new content, a couple pages of updated content, and I have told the committees they need to get their updates to you as soon as possible. Now the 15th of the month is the deadline for content for the Newsletter, which I am also editor of, after which I have to push that together and get it out the door because it has to be copied, assembled, stapled and folded by hand and sent bulk mail, hoping against hope to get to people's doors before the first of the month. Needless to say I was just feeling all kinds of pi**ed off and frustrated and generally taken for granted. Still am, if it comes to that because only one person has apologized to me about it and that was only after I vented my frustrations in her general direction. I don't get paid for this, and I certainly don't do it for the glory of it. But I don't think it's out of line to expect some conmmon courtesy and respect, perhaps even gratitude would be nice. John says I should just chuck the whole thing and tell them what they can do with their website and newsletter. I don't think I'm quite that mad yet. But it's early.
Peace

Welcome back, was wondering how you were doing. I know you were going through some rough times. My room mate and I have had a rough time of it too -- he's presently unemployed, and we just got socked by a 3200.00 ER bill for pharyngitis. Seems to me he should have gotten a new pharynx with that price tag. Way To Go with the new job :-)

Ya gotta love the health care system. Well, actually I suppose you really do. LOL Sorry to hear about Roomie's unemployment. Keep the faith, though. It'll get better. At least you are both on the mend now, knock on wood.
Thank you!
