Finally...
Well let's see. All the news that is news. So far we haven't been kicked out of our house. John still doesn't have a job. We're both pretty depressed... Well now you know why I haven't been updating this thing. Who wants to listen to that kind of junk. Geez... Well that and we had out internet cut off for a while...
The Saturn blew a head gasket so Mom and Dad sent us money they don't really have so we could go out and get a new car. We bought a '95 Tarus Station wagon from a Graphic Designer and his wife down in Scarborough. They just bought a new Lexus Mini Van or some such nonsense and didn't need it anymore. They are fortunately extraordinarily anal and kept meticulous maintenance records. The Mrs. apparently loved to ride the brakes so they have been replaced 6 times. But we had our new favorite mechanic look it over and he gave it the OK.
The furnace went out again so we are currently without heat or hot water. We have to get the furnace guy out on Monday, hopefully, so he can fix it. The problem is the furnace is over 15 years old and out of code so gods only know if it can even be fixed anymore. John has been nursing it along for quite a while now and replaced almost every piece in the stupid thing but it is officially beyond his capabilities at this point.
Ian is doing really well in school. He is still getting the OT and ST and we still have our monthly meetings. I also email the specialists, teachers and coordinators from time to time just to check up. Yesterday he told me that he and Angelina built a snowman at recess, very cool, and during holiday break he went over to Theo's house for a play date and John said it went really well. Good news all around.
My worry is that the boy is so smart at some point I am going to be more of a hinderance than a help to him. He came home the other day and explained the concept of consumerism to me. He is going to be way smarter than John and I combined. We sure as he** can't afford to send him to Cheverus so we are going to have to suplement his public education at home, which didn't worry me until I realized that I'm not going to know enough to do that. He's been getting into rockets and the Space Shuttle lately which I feel pretty secure in. That's been doing my ego a little better. LOL Today he watched a show on PBS about the Mars Rovers so this afternoon I told him we would go to the NASA website for a while and look around. I talked with John and we decided he could probably handle Apollo 13 so we are going to rent that at some point and watch it with him. Maybe James Mitchner's Space, if we can find it. Not completely historically accurate but gives a feel for the times and the processes that went on. But his main interests are still paleontology and zoology. And while I can hold my own with a 6 year old as long as I have the internet, that's not going to last forever. He was watching Behind the Lions the other day and John said he was reading the words on the screen before they even said what they were. I'm doomed.
Aidan is...Aidan. I love her, I wouldn't trade her for the world but she is going to be the death of me. John says she's got my attitude but without my baggage and distilled down to it's purest form. Be afraid world. That's all I got to say.

I've been watching movies more lately. I highly recommend Spiderman 2. Very good movie. I have I,Robot but I haven't watched it yet. I'm a pure Asimovian and the previews didn't look like they were following the story very well. I watched Manhunter from 1986. Surprisingly good movie. The original appearence on the Big Screen of Hanibal Lecter. William Peterson really is a good actor. And the other day we actually went to the theater. I played hookie from work and we went to a matinee and watched Blade Trinity. Not as good as the first two but I liked it. I especially liked the character Ryan Reynolds played. Hilarious. Laughed my a** off. Took me a while to place him but he was the blonde guy in Three Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place. His character rocked. If they make a fourth one they'd better keep him.
Thanks to John's addiction to EBay and my mommy, I now have 3 seasons of CSI on DVD. I still need the second season though. Eh, maybe next year.
So there you go. Now quick go do something fun before I drag you down with me. ;oD
