End in sight
John is, for the most part mobile now. He can drive so he can do the shopping and pick the kids up from school again. Phew. He does some of the dishes and all of the cooking again. He has to do it sitting on a bar stool so I call him Paul LOL (Chef Paul Prudhomme for those of you who are culinarily underexposed). I am back to my regular duties now, for the most part. Cleaning, giving the kids their baths, laundry, taking them to school. Etc. I'm off the oxycodone. Which in a way is cool because even though it helped me get rested at the end of the day and dulled the aches and pains during the day, I paid for it later.
The Fair is this weekend and OH BOY ain't these kids excited! I gotta tell ya. The fireworks are tonight and John is talking about letting them stay up for it. I told him, Ok, they can stay up til 10 or 11 at night but YOU'RE bloody well taking them to school the next day! LOLOLOL The parade will be Saturday right after lunch and then we usually go down to the fairground for the festivities. Aidan is just chomping at the bit to ride the ferris wheel. She was a bit too young last year so she missed all the fun stuff. Not going to be a problem this year. She will be the first one on everything I guarentee. It's going to be a lot more work this time around keeping track of both of them. Auntie and Philip are coming which they are glad of but Aidan really wants Hannah to come too. I told her she probably won't be able to because she will be with her mommy and daddy but I don't think she wants to hear me. :oD
Ian's two permanent teeth are coming in really well. They have almost moved right up in the space the baby teeth left.
John didn't get the electrician's union gig. It was a pretty harsh blow. We had kind of gotten our hopes up on that one. But you just have to sigh and go on. It's hard but I just have to have faith that the gods have something in mind for us. We just have to make sure we're looking for it and jump on it when it pops up.
My work is ok. Nothing serious, just the usual gripes and complaints. Mostly I'm just bored and ready for something else. Something more challenging where I can learn something and use my brain a bit would be nice. The problem is unless I totally change professions, there isn't much opportunity for challenge and learning. In the Administrative Assistant world, when you move up, it's just more of the same work you were doing before for more "important" people. And the higher up the AA food chain you get, the more you have to dress like a muckity muck and act like a muckity muck and get involved in all the unpleasant office politics and put in longer hours. Basically an Executive Assistant, which is about as high up on the chain as you can get is someone who gets to do all the unpleasant stuff the executive doesn't want to do, keep his calendar, remind him when to blow his nose, etc. Basically you are babysitting/running the life/mucking the stalls of a grown person who makes 5 times more money than you do. Just ain't worth it to me. I've often toyed with the idea of being a Personal Assistant. That's less administrative work and more in the interpersonal stuff. But it would probably end up being pretty much the same.
Ah well. Powerball is coming next month. Anything could happen I suppose. ;oD
Peace.
