Long time no blog. Hmmm.
John will be hearing tomorrow or Friday about whether he is going to get the Cable job or not. It actually sounds like a pretty good deal. The first year is going to be a little tight but after that the money's really pretty good. And it would be daytime hours, although he wouldn't get home until after the kids went to bed. Benefits aren't as good but the odds of him getting on at another Teamster shop are pretty slim considering all the guys ahead of him in seniority.
My work has sucked rocks the last week or so and nice lady actually did me some serious dirt so with my annual review coming up, I don't feel real confident in a glowing report. I was absolutely flabbergasted when I found out it was nice lady who did it too. Just goes to show you, you can't trust anyone in the workplace.
I forgot to tell you about Ian's incident with Spot the Hermit Crab last time I was here so I will tell you now. It's actually kinda cool. Ian was holding Spot in his hand after Spot's bath and walk around. Apparently Spot got freaked out about something and pinched ahold of Ian's palm and locked on tight. Ian was understandably sreaming bloody murder cause those suckers pinch HARD! John and I were trying everything we could think of to get the stupid thing off but nothing was working and through this whole thing, Ian didn't once try to hurt Spot. He was crying alot and saying "It really, really, really hurts" but he didn't try to do anything to Spot. I was wicked proud of him. Finally John came in with the vice grips and I was about to consign Spots soul back to the Great Circle when I had an inspiration. We ran the bathroom sink full of cold water and held Ian's hand Spot and all under. It numbed Ian's hand and land Hermit Crabs can't breath under water so Spot had to let go or drown. After a couple of minutes I was able to work Spot off (taking a minimal amount of skin with him) and was able to give Ian lots of cuddles and kisses. I told him how proud I was of him for not hurting Spot even though Spot was really hurting his hand. Then we put some first aid cream on the little boo boo and a Dora bandaid and he started to feel better. Once Gramma came in with the Dinosaur watch (a toy dinosaur that wraps its legs around your wrist with a clock in its back) he had pretty much forgotten the boo boo. Of course every 5 minutes on the way down to Boston he wanted someone to look at his watch to see what time it is, then he would tell me. LOLOLOL
We have started Aidan on training pants. Not pull ups, training pants. Needless to say, we are doing more laundry but yesterday was her second day and she only had 3 accidents. Not too bad, if you ask me. Now we did this exact same thing with Ian when he turned 3 and within a week he was completely day time trained. (learned, whatever they call it these days) We will just see how long it takes with Aidan. They always tell me girls train quicker than boys but so far I haven't seen any evidence of this. And knowing my daughter's Irish temper and stubborn streak I don't hold out a whole lot of hope.
I actually watched TV last night. There were 3 shows in a row that didn't suck. That doesn't happen often these days so I was kind of amazed. I watched Navy NCIS, Century City and Law & Order: SVU. Century City promises to be good, if they can keep up with themselves. It's kind of a cross between LA Law and Star Trek. I didn't originally set out to like NCIS. I don't ordinarily enjoy military shows, but this one is just "not military" enough for me to get interested. And I enjoy the characters. Mark Harmon does a good job, although, I can still not look at him without seeing Ted Bundy or the gay guy on St. Elsewhere. I don't know why some actors are like that. I thought I was going to have trouble with Scott Baccula in Enterprise but I really didn't. SVU isn't my favorite Law & Order but it's ok. This week's was based on the guy who kidnapped girls and kept them in his basement. The real guy was caught, I believe and they found tapes he had made. In the L&O version he was sent to his maker sans the family jewels. I actually prefer L&O: CI. I just love Vincent D'Onofrio's character. That man is at the way high end of the Autism Spectrum but he's definitely there. LOLOL
Well, that was a large chunk of useless drivel. It's a good thing my friends read this. I think this one will drive everyone else away screaming. :oD
Peace
