Well, the insanity is over for another year. A good time was had by all and the kids got WAAAY too many presents. AGAIN! :oD
They loved the stuff from Aunt Shirley. The Blue's Clues pack was a real hit with Aidan and Ian just LOVES that Clifford phonics computer game. He played it for like 2 hours when we first put in on the computer and wanted to play longer but it was dinner time.
Gramma and Grampa got Ian the DVD box set of Walking With Dinosaurs from the Discovery Channel. It has 5 DVDs with the original "Walking with.." then it has "Allosaurus" and "Walking with Prehistoric Beasts" and the "Making of..." versions of all of them. Needless to say, if there was anything I DIDN'T know about dinosaurs or their immediate descendents, I know it now. LOLOL
Rich has gotten me into working on a site for him and the Peace Corps so I have been spending some time doing that the last few days. I hope it is a good thing for all involved. I would love to get some more exposure. I just got the domain name day before yesterday and then switched it to the hosting site yesterday so hopefully it will finish propagating today or tomorrow. If not I have to call Bravenet and find out what the heck is going on. If it ever starts working the address is here:
www.pc-dpp.org (Peace Corps-Documentary Photo Project). Keep your fingers crossed. I also redesigned the
Kimber85 Web Productions site. Just in case. ;oD
Janet, the CDS Service Coordinator for Ian called me on Monday and it would seem that she is actually going to start coordinating some stuff. How cool is that? Candice, the speech therapist, said that she thought Ian should have a PT eval and that there should be more of a sensory diet plotted out by his OT so Janet is looking for a PT to do the eval and we are going to have a sit-down team meeting to address the rest. Hopefully it will take place the first week in February. His transition meeting just keeps getting closer and closer. *sigh* He will be eligible for CDS services through the summer so hopefully these folks can all start talking and working together to get some work done before he starts school in the fall. Janet said that realistically Ian will need some services in school. I just hope we can keep it to a minimum.
I joined the Maine Autism Society this week as well. I hope to get on board with them and have the advocate included and familiar with Ian's services and plans so he/she can attend the transition meeting as well.
I finally had a chance to look into gymnastics clubs in the area. There is one in Bridgton run by the Rec program there. It is a spring and fall activity so there will be a new session opening up in a couple of months. I'm still a little bit nervous about this. Ian, on the other hand, is wicked excited. He wants to go to gymnastics class instead of kindergarten. He asked if gymnastics class has recess. LOLOL I don't know how it will work out. I keep trying to explain to him that it is just like school in that it has rules and he has to do what the coach tells him to do even if he doesn't like it or doesn't feel like it. What if the coach is one of those nasty, abusive types that won't have any patience with Ian. He is going to need some patience and understanding. He's not a "snap-to" kind of kid. CR**. I can't protect him from everything forever and for me to try to would be a disservice to him. But at the same time I don't want him to be discouraged and written off because he isn't a "cookie cutter" kid. :o( I know he can do anything he wants to. He just won't always do it the same way everyone else does it. Or at the same pace. I just can't look at that wonderful, smart, funny, loving little kid and call him disabled or delayed. He's just Ian. And that's a really great thing to be. I wish everyone understood that.
