*sigh* Mornin' all. I still haven't gotten the newsletter done yet. Many complications. So I have to do that tonight. Dang I'm tired. LOLOL

I am hoping to meet up with one of the ladies from my online women's group today. That will be cool. It will be the second person I have met over the internet and then in person. The first one worked out pretty well, so here's hoping...

On the kids front things have been pretty cool the last couple of days. Aidan did a really amazing job last night and this morning of not throwing a fit. You could see she really wanted to but she managed to keep it down to a mild and short lived fuss. Well up until I had to cut her bangs but we can't expect perfection can we? I fussed all over her and told her what a good job she did and how proud I am of her so hopefully that will reinforce it. She saw me putting on my necklace this morning and decided she wanted one too, so I got the Barbie locket Daddy got her for Valentine's last year out and put it on her. She just thought that was great. The first thing she did when she got to school and saw her teacher was say "Jessica, I got a necklace!" It was so cute. When I left she was showing it to everyone and playing with it. I'm still not really sure what to do with this whole doll playing, ballerina dancing thing, but I'm sure it will come to me. ;oD I've got my mom on the look-out for tutus and tights in Aidan's size because right now she likes to tie her blanket around her waist for a ballerina dress and do her "Cool Ballerina" dance. LOLOL I looked at Wal Mart but they didn't have any.

When I picked them up from school on Tuesday Ian pounced on me the minute I walked in the door and started telling me all about the school agers and how they were picking on him and it made him madder and madder. Now, on the one hand, I'm thrilled that he is telling me this, and that he recognizes his feelings and why they are happening and that he was able to deal with that and talk about it. On the other hand I wanted to take the school agers out behind the woodshed and give them an attitude adjustment with a 2x4! He said that they were mimicking him and laughing. GRRRRRRRR And he said that they were trying to scare Aidan and he was protecting her. GRRRRRRRR He also told me that Jenny (who is an extreme juvenile delinquent kicked out of kindergarten for being violent) made a "No Boys Allowed" rule. Now last Friday Ian and I had this discussion because she had done that and when I came to pick them up he had made a "No Girls Allowed" rule, in retaliation. So he now knows that that kind of rule is bad and discriminatory. So when Jenny did it on Tuesday Ian tried to tell her that it was a bad rule and she shouldn't make it. But, of course, Jenny didn't listen. So a bunch of the boys came over with Ian and they all played there anyway. That was a lot for him to process in one day and I suppose it's not unusual that he felt he needed to get it all out. I tried to give him some words to use the next time these things happen and told him it was ok to go tell the teacher or find something else to do if his words don't work. I just wish the teachers there would pay attention and try and process some of this stuff with him when it happens while the context is still fresh. It would help the other children involved as well because obviously they also need some help with their social skills. GRRRRRRR

I called his developmental preschool yesterday to set up Karen's (the useless DT teacher) visit to the other classroom. That is going to happen next Thursday. Keep your fingers crossed some of this stuff will sink in. As I was talking to Debbie (the DT teacher at the preschool) she mentioned that she had taken some time to talk to Candace (the speech therapist) about some different therapies for Ian. See THIS is how it is supposed to work, dangit!!! Candace usually goes into Ian's preschool class on Thursdays to work on his pragmatic skills in the group setting. But since it is a Developmental Preschool, all of the kids in his class have their own developmental issues they are working on at the same time. So what Debbie and Candace thought is they would pull Ian and 2 or 3 other kids out of the larger group during that time into another room so Candace and one other classroom aide could work with him in a smaller setting away from the distractions. Now this is the kind of thing I like to see. I told her I thought it was a great idea. In the reading I have been doing, especially in Atwoods work, they all recommend this kind of small group work for the pragmatic piece. YIPPEEEEE....

We talked briefly about his progress report and she said that while it may look discouraging he is making progress. It's just slow. And the kids all really like him and ask about him when he's not there. It's a long row to hoe for everyone I suppose, this diagnosis he has. We talked about maybe getting him in there another afternoon a week and if Janet at CDS goes for it we may go ahead and do it. He's only got this spring and summer before we have to surrender him to the whims of public school. GAD.

Well, that's enough yammerin' for today. Peace.
