Day 2 of being back to work. So far so good. The generic vicoden slows me down a little bit but my tummy is getting better every day so I shouldn't have to take it much longer. I don't know what they did but they made a WICKED big, ugly, purple bruise by the top incision. I had to scrape my car windows this morning which didn't help.

The bad news is that thanks to the weekend blizzard, Mom in Law couldn't make it out here to visit. She made it to Chicago but they cancelled all flights into Boston and Manchester so she had to turn around and go back. So today will be my first day taking care of the kids alone. I think it will be alright because for the most part they have been really good about not jumping/climbing on me too much but after school they are so wound up to see me it gets dicey. Perhaps I will get out one of the movies I downloaded over the weekend and we'll watch that tonight. I have Lion King and Cinderella that we haven't watched since I downloaded them and I know Ian likes them.

Aidan was chomping at the bit to get to school today so she could go out and play in the snow. Ever since Saturday she has been wanting to get her snow boots and snow pants on and go outside. The trouble was that her snow boots were at school so she has had to wait. She will just be ballistic when she gets out there. I feel so sorry for her teachers. :oD Ian wants to dig a tunnel in the snow and we had a long, long talk about only if the teachers say it's ok and if they are watching you while you're doing it. He kept telling me that he could hold his breath and dig himself out if it collapsed on him so I don't think I was very successful at driving the point home. Here's hoping the teachers are paying attention today. *sigh*

Ian's OT therapist told John that Ian should join a gymnastics club because he has such good flexibility. Ian is really excited about it. He has wanted to do gymnastics since he was 3. I have always been a bit resistant to it because even though the events are individual, the practices require group activities and following instructions. Neither of these are Ian's strong points if it's not something he wants to do. If the coach tells them to do stretching excersizes and Ian wants to do tumbles, I just don't know if he can manage to follow the regemin. I suppose it would be a good way for him to LEARN to follow a regemin but only if he gets a REALLY patient coach. I just don't want to set him up for failure.

Aunt Shirley sent us an Amazon.com gift certificate for Christmas (thanks Aunt Shirley ;oD ) so John and I ordered everything last night. Aidan got a Blues Clues tubby toy set and a book called Lizzy's Dos and Don'ts. I was kind of attracted to the book because it's about a little girl and her mother who get into a conflict because the mom is always saying don't. They go into topics of positive reinforcement and in the end the girl and the mom come to an agreement to have more dos. I'll let ya know if it's any good. LOL Ian is getting a puzzle and a Clifford phonics computer game. He has a Land Before Time math game that he really likes to play. He and John played it for a while last night and John says he is getting pretty good but he has a little trouble at the higher levels doing the problems fast enough for the game. This Clifford game seems like it may be good. Ian is, for the most part, beyond letter recognition and moving into the pre-reading phase so I think it is the perfect time to get him started on this. He can already spell his name. He typed out his whole name on the computer just by sounding it out and the only parts he needed help with were the 'ck' and the silent 'e'. I think he will pick up reading pretty quick once he gets started.

Ok, I have to run down to the post office and pick up the mail.

Peace.
