As if I needed further evidence that I am completely healed from my operation, I was jumped by 5 or 6 rambunctious, fresh from sleep and breakfast preschoolers this morning, mercilously wrestled to the ground and dogpiled on. I must admit I can think of few more enjoyable ways to start a day. It was a blast. The teachers always look at me like I'm nuts when I get down on the floor with the kids and roll around and laugh with them.
eh Their loss.
The Solstice Service last night was
WONDERFUL!!! I am rejuvinated and reenergized and eager to start out on the path of the Fire Wheel again. I actually left a little early from work to go home and run a bath so I could enter the circle cleansed. I used some handmade soap and a pouf and scrubbed myself practically raw. It felt great. LOLOL The kids did really well in the play group too. I got there a little bit late because I had to stop and get some coolant for the radiator on my Little Red Saturn so I missed the calling of the corners but I was able to get situated pretty quickly. The music was awesome. I have no idea who the guy was playing the percussion instruments but he is to be commended.
Now we just have to make it through Christmas. LOLOL The tree is up and we decided we might as well put some presents under it and hope Aidan doesn't raid them before Thursday. I must say that this season has brought out the best in my coworkers. Crazy Woman brought me a card and a six-pack of Coke and Nice Lady brought me a pentacle shaped box of Ghirardelli Chocolate and a beautiful purple velvet and satin scarf with really intricately knotted fringe. I feel so appreciated and it just goes to reaffirm my belief that even if christ really wasn't born on December 25th Christmas is a good thing.
Martie has decided to get back involved with Ian and his school. She is going to get the Center to pay for Karen, Ian's pinhead preschool teacher at his regular school who is supposed to be developmental therapy-ing him but isn't, to go to Ian's theraputic preschool for an afternoon while Ian is there. This way she can get a clue about what she is actually supposed to be doing. Martie is also going to do her training practicum at Ian's regular school so she can work more closely with the teachers there around disability issues and she can use Ian's issues as examples AND she is thinking about having the schoool be an intensive site for the Center. She also wants to be at his transition meeting in May. Martie is really being a great help to us. She sympathizes with us because she has 2 adult kids who have disabilities. Her oldest is pretty severly Autistic and her youngest is ADHD with sensory issues. I am thinking about joining the
Autism Society of Maine as well because aside from the obvious resources that would be available, they also offer the services of an advocate to attend the transition meeting for free who is well versed on all the laws and rights these kids and families are entitled to and how to get them out of reluctant school districts. Which this one seems to be. GAD they are going to hate me. LOLOL I can just see it now..."Quick, HIDE! It's Ian's MOM!!!!!"
Alright, that's enough yakkin' for today. Peace.
