Ahhh winter in Maine. Don't ask me why but I walked right out without my snow boots on this morning. Just my slip on sneakers. BRRRRRR cold feet.
I had to be in Augusta this morning so of course I started right off running late. It's my own fault. I looked at the alarm clock saying 6 am and said "Ain't no WAY I'm getting up yet." and went back to sleep for an hour. GAD I hate getting up early.
I dropped the kids off at school and had a talk with Ian's teacher. She is concerned that he is exhibiting "aggressive" behavior. He still isn't comfortable initiating contact with other kids so his way to engage someone right now is to go up and grab them and start to wrestle. Granted, not appropriate. But for crying out loud!! This woman is suppose to be a Developmental Therapy teacher! She is supposed to know that this isn't aggression! It's her job to see that he is trying to engage and she is supposed to redirect him and teach him more appropriate ways to do it.
I get so annoyed when I think that the school he is going to is getting paid state money to provide developmental therapy to him 3 mornings a week and he isn't even being given the most basic interventions in this classroom. And CDS KNOWS IT!!! I have told his worker a couple of times. Apparently they just don't care! And he is going to have his transition meeting in May to move into kindergarden. If he goes in and the people at his school say "aggressive" Ian is screwed for the rest of his school life. I could just cry. I am hoping to talk to his speech therapist and see if she can contact Erica at the regular school and work out some of these issues. It's ridiculous that he has all these different agencies and people working with him and none of them are talking to each other and addressing anything as a team. GAD.
I may have to call Janet, his case worker and request a team meeting or an adjustment to his IFSP or SOMETHING to get these people on the same page!!! I would love to know what Janet is getting paid for.
Well, that is what's up with me today.
