I have been having some great conversations with Ian lately. He is such a cool person. We talked about responsibility the other day which worked it's way around to talking about jobs. Since we have been going through this whole financial mess, we have been focusing a lot on money which, I have discovered, has had a disturbing effect on Ian. He is now convinced that the main reason to get a job is to have lots of money. *sigh* This is exactly what I have been trying to avoid. I really want the kids to get jobs they like and are fullfilling and important in their lives rather than just doing something to make money like John and I are doing. I think of Jennifer as I write this. I tried to repair the damage as much as I could by explaining that even though money is necessary for certain things, it isn't what's important. What should be important is that you are doing something you like and enjoy doing it. And that it is something that means something. I think I at least gave him something to think about. Right now he wants to be a marine biologist and study sea cucumbers. He said I could have a ride in his research submarine. :oD

This morning I had one of those really great "mom moments". He tripped over a toy and came over to get kisses. I kissed his finger and his knee and when I was done he said "Mommy you sure do know how to make me smile and shine." How cool is that?!

Night before last we were playing on the computer and he sounded out and typed his name all by himself. He needed help with the 'ck' in Patrick and the silent 'e' but otherwise he did it all by himself. I am so proud!

Ok, enough gushy mom stuff.
