Just cause I know you're all up in arms to hear this, I had another stupid gal bladder attack over the weekend. It started at 9 pm and the pain was finally bearable enough for me to go to sleep at around 4 am. In between I had 2 percocets and a bag of ice on my stomach. I am
SO ready for this thing to come out. GAD! If my pattern hold true, which the surgeon says it usually does in these cases, I will have one more of these attacks before my surgery in December. LORD AND LADY HAVE MERCY!!!!!!
I had to take yesterday off of work because I was recovering from the percocet so I lost 8 hours paid recovery time from my surgery. How much does that suck.
Otherwise the weekend was pretty quiet. Ian wanted to make egg carton caterpillars so we did. Lots of paint and glue and pipe cleaners and fuzzy pom-poms and googly eyes later and we have two caterpillars in the house. The kids seemed to have a good time at least. LOLOL
Church was good. I really enjoy the interim minister. He's very personable and seems much more comfortable on the pulpit than Jean did. He also brings more of a sense of spirituality to the service, which I always found lacking. I hope we can find someone similar in style to him when we get our new permanent minister. This week's sermon was on the Jewish High Holy Days and their meaning. The process of forgiving ourselves and others and letting go to look forward to the new year. It's a good thing. He talked about the Zen philosophy of not being too full of prejudice and preconceived notions to accept new concepts and ideas. What I brought away from it was that it is better to have a few core values and concepts that you keep but everything else should be fluid and changable. As Aristotle said and I paraphrase because I don't remember the exact wording "The wise man knows he knows nothing."
So that is my challenge to y'all today as well as myself. Just let it go.
