Phew. Ok, I'm back and feeling a bit more human now. I don't know what was worse the pain or the painkiller. I'm still waiting to hear from Dr. Mahoney's office to find out when I can get my surgical consultation. I'm really hoping this stupid surgery can wait until December. John will have vacation time then and can stay home with me and help with the kids while I am recouperating. I realize that this isn't major surgery but I think I will be a bit less mobile with stitches in my tummy. Thanks to
Joel and
Laura, my wonderful Blog Buddies, for their well wishes and healing energy. It really does mean a lot.
*whiney warning*I'm a bit nervous about having surgery. The last time I went under general anesthetic (back in '87 for knee surgery) the bonehead anasthesiologist didn't read my intake notes or something. When he put this thing on my throat as he was getting me ready to put me under it started getting really hard to breathe. I gasped out "This is a really bad time to have an asthma attack" and he said "You have asthma?". I nodded and the whole room scrambled. They put an oxygen mask on me and someone shot something in my IV line and I started feeling better. Then he gave me whatever he gave me and had me start counting. Out I went and next thing I knew I was in a recovery room with a bunch of other folks. I puked my guts out too, I'll tell ya. It was pretty awful.
*end whiney*
The nurse I had in the ER this time was really quite nice. I find that nurses for the most part are really quite nice and I much prefer them to doctors on the whole. She was one of those 'talkin to ya, pattin ya, generally tryin to make ya feel better' kind of nurses. I like that kind, especially in the ER.
Our regular nurse, Nurse Kathy, is the other kind of nurse I like. When I went in the day Aidan was induced I felt kind of funky (I had preclampsia but didn't know it yet) and as I walked into the doctors office she took one look at me and said "You look like hell" LOLOL. She gave me a cup to pee in and then put me in a room and took my blood pressure (162/112) and told me I wasn't allowed to stand up anymore. (She was crackin' me up at this point). When she found out I had driven myself to the doctors office she went off on me and said she was driving me to the hospital herself. And she did. And she wheeled me in to the desk, took care of all my paperwork for me and took me up to the room. I love that woman. :oD
Eric, if you're reading this anymore, good on ya, guy.
Ok, that's it for today. Peace y'all.
