*sigh* The tree is gone. Cut down, ran through the wood chipper and hauled away. I cried. People suck.
We got the report from the speech language pathologist. It was a very clear documentation of the dichotomy that is Ian. He was talkative and cooperative (for a 4 year old) during the testing in the office, then when they went to do the in school evaluation they saw the "I just wanna be by myself" Ian. He tried to participate with his friends but he really doesn't feel comfortable doing it. When they called for him to come and play he would go over but didn't actually participate. Poor little guy. :o( They recommended 2 hours a week of pragmatic therapy. One hour pull out and one hour in his classroom. Now we just have to figure out how to get it done. His OT therapy for his fine motor work can't be done in his classroom because they just don't have the staff available to have someone go out there. The woman who was doing the work in his school isn't going to be doing any more work period until March. So he is going to be going to the office once a week in the afternoon to have his therapy there. The good thing is that this place is only about 10 or 15 minutes from his school. If we can't get something arranged up here for his Speech, he will have to go to Portland!!! AARRGGHH!!
Other than that things are pretty quiet around here. Aidan is still being 2. Everyone keeps telling me that this will pass but DANG!!! WHEN!!!!! Ian was NOT like this when he was 2. I think this child is going to be more work than Ian is and she doesn't have a disability!!! Well, not one that anyone has noticed yet. LOLOL John's mom said she thinks I just have another John and she feels really bad for me. I hope she doesn't have ADHD. That would TRULY suck. She doesn't seem to have any difficulty sitting and watching movies when we put one on. But for the most part, she's pretty on the go. It's possible that this is just normal for a 2 year old but you couldn't prove it by me. :oD Her teacher told me the other day that she was amazed at how well she Aidan speaks and holds her crayons. Apparently Aidan is very good about going right to the art shelves, getting a pencil and paper and sitting at the table to draw. She has always had the proper "Pencil Grip", well at least as long as she has been holding pencils. I don't think I ever remember her using the mitten grip or whatever they call it. The one that Ian still uses. And she makes the
tiniest little circles when she draws. Very cool.
Ian is starting to recognize words and knowing what sounds letters make. Hopefully that means he will be able to pick up reading soon. I worry that he will go into kindergarten not reading. I don't know how advanced kids are today but they seem to be farther along then they were in my day. I was the only one in my kindergarden class that could read. (of course this was 30 years ago. I was reading when I was 3 and at a 4th grade level when I was 5.) So I don't know what they expect of kindergardeners these days. I hear that they even have
homework!
Well, that's about it for today. More tomorrow, I hope.
