Oy vey, I'm tired. I'm sitting here at work trying my best not to fall asleep. It's just me and one other girl here and the only thing I have left to do today is photocopy articles. *yuck* I'm leaving at 4 cause it's just too ridiculous to sit here longer dozing.
As you see in the tagboard below, Kathy came through the operation alright. There was a great deal of scar tissue and calcium buildup on the leads to her pacemaker but they were able to get everything replaced. She is still in the hospital and had to have 2 transfusions since the operation because of low bloodpressure but they seem to think it will be ok to send her home today. Doctors and insurance companies suck. At least Judy will be there to take care of her.
Ian's OT session went well again this week. More obstical course and puzzles but this time they also worked on his pencil grip which is one of his really big stumbling blocks. They had him trace around a large ouline drawing of a crab (sea creature, very smart :oD ) and then color half of it in. The therapist colored the other half. It's really not as bad as I would have thought. I have it hanging on my overhead desk cubby here at work. She apparently had to correct his grip every 10 seconds which kind of frustrated him but that's not surprising. Hopefully he'll take to it soon. When I went to pick the kids up the other day Ian was sitting at the table working with a plastic stencil plate and some markers. He was using the old fist grip so I went and sat with him for a little bit, changing his grip and doing the hand over his thing they recommend in the books and he seemed to do pretty well. He just doesn't grasp the pencil hard enough to get control over it yet.
I finally got a call back from Janet (the CDS lady) regarding Ian's speech/language report. She is going to be working on the logistics of the two hours a week of therapy and there will have to be one more meeting, but hopefully we can get it all worked out so Ian gets what he needs. I'll post when I know more.
This weekend is Casco Days. Yippee!! Last night was the first night and they set off the fireworks right across the lake at around 9 or 9:30. I waited to see if either of the kiddies would come running out screaming from the loud noise and bright lights but no one did so I let them alone until the big finale. That one was even a bit loud for me. So I walked down, turned on the hall light and peeked in. Ian was fast asleep and Aidan was laying on her tummy, chin on her hands looking out the window at them. I should have known better. LOLOL My lil' Danger Baby probably would have been over there setting the silly things off given the chance. Bless her little heart. She is going to be an interesting dicotomy. Yesterday morning she was wicked excited at the prospect of putting on her new pink dress with the flowers and big sparkly butterflies on it (a knit one with iron on appliques, I'm not crazy!! LOL) and when I picked her up at the end of the day, she was the filthyest kid in the bunch. This is why I buy those little dresses at Wal Mart in the "No Brand Names, Thank You" section for $5.00. I don't know. It's going to be facinating to see who she turns into.
Tomorrow is the parade, which goes right past our front yard and then we go down to the fairground for rides on the Merry Go Around and the Ferris Wheel, sliding on the big, purple inflatible slide, bouncing in the inflatible tiger house, and riding on the fire truck. And in between, probably eating lots of french fries. LOLOL I will post pictures if I remember.
