*sigh* I've decided to take it easy today. I'm kinda, workin' and readin', workin' and readin'. I have been manually crunching numbers for the quarterly report for the last 4 days and I just don't want to do any complex thinking for a while. So I'm bloghopping a little. I have discovered that over time I am becoming more and more discerning in my tastes in blogs. I don't like promotional blogs, group blogs or conservative blogs. I will occasionally read a conservative blog just to see if they are at least presenting rational positions or not but for the most part I just find right-wing, militia, kill-em-all-and-let-god-sort-'em-out type conservatives and leave immediately. But today I have instigated a new criteria. Your blog must be written in english. I mean real english. I will occasionally visit foreign language sites because I like to look at the layouts but if your site is supposed to be in english and you want me to read it, you need to write it in
REAL ENGLISH. "tks 4 the info ho r u?" is not english. I do not condone computer-speak and if my kids ever use it I am going to have a meltdown. It's laziness, pure and simple and kids these days are lazy enough as it is. All you have to do is watch one Jay Leno show where he goes out and asks average people on the street questions that any low grade moron with a GED should know the answer to and you will see my point. (The bible was NOT originally written in Old English!!!) But don't get me started on that. I could ramble on for a year about the state of education in this country today. I think it will be more work for me sending my kids to public school than it would be to a private school just due to the suplimentary home teaching they are going to need to come out with any kind of level of functionality.
Now I don't claim to be a genius myself. I don't have a college degree. In fact I was kicked out of college twice. Mostly because I spent most of my time enjoying my new-found freedom and not enough studying. Twice. How sad is that. I was fine when I was home going to Junior College for a semester so I could get back into the regular college. I had a 3.8 GPA and that was with an Algebra class. (I truly suck at math) But the minute I got out of my parents house I was back at the party dorm as an honorary loft bunny. (no that does not mean what it sounds like. lol) But I digress. I have the level of education that I do have because I took it myself. There were some great teachers at my high school who pointed me in the right direction, but if I hadn't done all the extra work and reading and researching myself, I too, would have no idea who Joan of Arc was and think that the Hunchback of Notre Dame really did live happily ever after. (Thanks Walt. *sheesh*) So no, I won't encourage, accept or tolerate computer-speak.
Ok, enough of that. Back to work.
